Underground Food s.r.o.

The company supplies separated protein processed by innovative Czech technology developed with a view to preserving the highest nutritional values of insects.

The input raw material is the mealworm beetle (Tenebrio molitor) larvae processed into the form of nanopate. The raw material comes from certified farmers with organic quality guarantee.

Nanopate contains 3 times more protein than common meat and has an optimal content of OMEGA 3 and 6 unsaturated fatty acids.

Our customers are producers of feed for livestock and pets (gold fish, dogs, cats, poultry), including special and premium diet supplements. According to EC Regulation 2017/893 of 1 July 2017, selected insect species (including the mealworm we process) for animal protein production are considered as livestock and can be used as a safe raw material for the production of compound feeds for pets, fur animals and fish.

Our customers are high-protein food producers who follow new trends in human nutrition and dietology. From 1 January 2018, under the EU regulation on so-called new foods, products containing high-protein separate from insects can be marketed.

Nanopate can be incorporated into feed and food without any additional modification of production technology.

In developing the technology for processing insects we cooperate with leading experts from the Faculty of Chemical Technology, Brno University of Technology, and Mendel University in Brno.

The company chose the offices in Technology Park for three reasons. The first was the friendly attitude of TPB management when searching for suitable spaces as well as in discussions about expansion. The second reason was the value for money which is crucial for a start-up company such as Underground Food. The third reason was the limited offer of premises with the required technological facilities near BUT Faculty of Chemistry. Our production requires not only office facilities and consultancy, such as those offered by JIC, but most of all we need space that will meet the hygienic and technical parameters allowing the installation, testing and operation of the production technology. We need to have easy access for our suppliers and be able to install our technology. We need the space to meet all sanitary and technical parameters, ventilation and clean production. TPB management helped us in meeting all of the requirements and their overall attitude toward a starting company was the best in comparison with other options.
